1. OpenAI now accepts UPI directly. When OpenAI launched rupee pricing and the India-only Go plan in August 2025, it also enabled UPI payments on its own checkout. So the old reason to use group buy — that Indian cards get declined on international billing — no longer holds. You can pay OpenAI from your own bank account today. If a group buy page still tells you that you can't pay OpenAI from India, that page is out of date.
2. ChatGPT Go costs ₹399/month, officially. That's less than our ₹549, it's a subscription in your own name, your chats are private, and it doesn't breach anyone's terms of service. Go gives you roughly 10× the free tier's message, image and file-upload limits, and better memory. What it doesn't give you is the Thinking reasoning model, Custom GPTs, Deep Research or Codex.
So the honest split is this. If you want a better everyday chatbot, buy ChatGPT Go from OpenAI — it's cheaper than us and it's properly yours. If you specifically need Plus-tier features and ₹1,999 a month is genuinely out of reach, this page is for you. Those are the only two situations where either product makes sense, and we'd rather lose the sale than have you discover the difference after paying.

Official prices are OpenAI's India rupee pricing, which is set for India rather than converted from dollars, and includes GST. Checked 30 August 2026. OpenAI ran a long promotional period where Go was free in India; that promotion has ended, so treat ₹399 as the current price and check OpenAI's own page before deciding. Model names and per-tier message allowances change frequently — we don't list specific message caps here because any number we publish would be stale within weeks. OpenAI's own pricing page is the only reliable source for those.
The Part Nobody Explains
ChatGPT is different from the other tools we offer, because your conversations are the product. Here's the honest picture.
In ChatGPT, your conversation list and the Memory feature belong to the account, not to an individual session. On a shared account that means chat titles and remembered context can be visible to other people using it, and Memory entries accumulate across everyone. We isolate sessions at our access layer, but we cannot change how ChatGPT itself stores history and Memory.
What this means in practice: do not put client names, contract terms, unpublished business plans, personal medical or legal details, passwords, API keys or anything you'd mind a stranger reading into a shared ChatGPT account. Ever.
If you use this, do these three things: turn Memory off in settings, use Temporary Chat for anything you'd rather not leave behind, and delete conversations when you're finished with them.
If your ChatGPT use is confidential by nature — legal, medical, financial, or client work under an NDA — buy an official subscription instead. ₹1,999 is a lot cheaper than a confidentiality problem, and at that point the ₹1,450 you'd save is not the relevant number.

Yes. When OpenAI introduced rupee pricing and the India-only Go plan in August 2025, it also enabled UPI on its own checkout. You can subscribe to ChatGPT from an Indian bank account without an international card.

There's no Indian law against it. It does breach OpenAI's terms of service, which treat an account as belonging to one person — and OpenAI enforces this more actively than most providers we work with. That's a contract matter rather than a legal risk to you, but the practical consequence is real: flagged accounts mean access gaps.
